Actually, Wild Bill was fairly mellow last Saturday when I met him at the Logan Chick-fil-a fund raising event held to help him recover from $250,000 in medical bills after being hospitalized for a month due to heart complications.
I can imagine that an event sponsored specifically for your aid would be humbling and Wild Bill seemed overwhelmed with gratitude by the community’s response.
Utah State University’s cheer squad came to support their big bad self-appointed Pep Club President.
They rallied and cheered with the crowd as Big Blue worked the parking lot high-fiving kids, kissing babies, shmoozing chicks and whooping it up with Chick-Fil-a’s own “Eat More Chicken” herd.
Wild Bill made the rounds shaking hands and bumping bellies with his adoring public, although his girth is considerably reduced, I noticed. (Must be the hospital food.)
The place was packed, the food was delish and the entertainment and atmosphere was rockin’ and rowdy.
(The help is pretty cute too!)
Hats off – or should I say “shirts off” – to Wild Bill. Here’s hoping for continued recovery!
See you on the sidelines for USU BB 2011-12!
