Rainmakers

Sunday night I threw down the hammer.

I told everybody in my household that at the crack of dawn we were all getting up to tackle the jungle of weeds that has taken over our yard.

I said if we all worked hard while it’s still cool outside it would be done in no time. Then when we finished we would all have a great sense of accomplishment and family unity.

That night, the little devils exercised childlike faith and knelt by their beds and prayed for rain.

Not only did the rain foil my family bonding over weeding, it canceled a bike ride with a friend AND kept me up all night!

Sometimes I wish God didn’t love little children quite so much.
