Pumpkin Walk

tangled“But it just doesn’t feel like Halloween if I don’t go see the Pumpkin Walk!” I whined to Jason.

It was 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, the last night of North Logan’s annual Pumpkin Walk. Somehow I had let the weekend get away from me without taking the fam to see it, and we HAVE to see it! It’s our favorite Halloween tradition. So even though it was late and a school night, we piled in the car and headed off into the dark autumn night.

We were not disappointed. The displays were as fabulous as ever. The theme was “My Favorite Things” and if I was making a display for that theme I would make the Pumpkin Walk.

dmeFaves included scenes from Gilligan’s Island, Tangled, and Despicable Me.

Signs of changing times were included with pumpkin apps like Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies.

The scene of the USU football team winning a game was far fetched, but very well done. The idea of football players as hollow heads is fitting though.

A highlight is always the displays inside the small building where a pumpkin-head Ralphie pawed a squash leg lamp, sat on a toilet with soap in his  mouth, and stood at the top of the stairs in bunny pajamas.

The examples of master pumpkin carving is always amazing with backlit images of Charlie Brown, Popeye and Homer Simpson (my iphone photography hardly does them justice). To top it off, the friendly witch was there to hand us a Pepperidge Farm cookie.

We finished our festive stroll just before they shut off the lights for the season. As we headed back to the car, I heard a dog howl in the distance.

Now it feels like Halloween.
